We talked with Anoek Cuijpers, Product Owner of Jumbo Extra’s, to learn more about the importance of data when making the application. Jumbo Extra’s

A few years ago, developers, business analysts, product owners, and many more collaborated to launch Jumbo Extra’s at the start of 2020! Jumbo’s customers and employees may now take advantage of personalized benefits thanks to Jumbo’s latest loyalty program.

The more data collected from a customer, the better their shopping experience. Think about saving receipts, promotional stamps, and sales stamps digitally. In that way, you will never lose your stamps again, and it is even possible to share these kinds of assets with your family and friends. Another feature that excels the customer’s shopping experience is the ability to set up your checkout preferences. In this way, the cashier knows how to serve you best!

Not only is the application convenient, but customers also get more value for their money! By keeping track of our customer’s purchasing habits, we can offer personalized offers. They will receive customized discounts or free products based on their previous purchases. Another fun feature is the Wheel of Fortune! Every time you scan your Jumbo Extra’s card, you can spin the Wheel of Fortune and win tickets for selected day trips or memberships.

The process

We now know that collecting data plays a major role in the success of the application. But how does this process work?

By scanning the code at the POS, we can collect the necessary information. The data is passed on to the supplier, who then forwards it to the modelling party who creates group offers based on personas. Depending on your previous purchases, you are classified into a category. This makes you eligible for a certain product group. What do you buy and what are you willing to pay? Which suppliers participate in the promotions? These questions determine your benefits.

The more you buy, the better we can analyze your shopping behaviour, the more personal your benefits. With all the personal benefits It becomes easier for you to save points, resulting in more rewards!

Working on Jumbo Extra’s

“Since I joined Jumbo in 2018, I have been involved in the Jumbo Extra’s program that was at the time in a pilot phase and launched in only 13 stores. After two years of testing different propositions, the Loyalty program was rolled out in all the 700 Jumbo stores and it became the personalized, fun, customer-oriented Loyalty app of Jumbo, used by many people in the Netherlands.”
