Through its website jumbowerkt.nl (hereinafter referred to as: “Website”), Jumbo collects personal data about you (hereinafter referred to as: “Information”). We think that it is important for you to know exactly what Information Jumbo collects about its visitors, the purposes for which we use this Information and how long we retain it. In this Privacy Statement, we try to describe this in a transparent way. Jumbo is committed to ensuring that your Information is collected and used carefully and in compliance with the law. We encourage you to read this Privacy Statement carefully before using our Website.
1. Who is Jumbo?
Jumbo Supermarkten B.V. & Jumbo Distributiecenter B.V. are part of the Jumbo Food Group and are engaged in e-commerce activities in the retail sector. Jumbo Supermarkten B.V. is also engaged in the recruitment of staff via the Website. Both entities process personal data as stated in this privacy statement.
Within the Jumbo Food Group, Jumbo Supermarkten B.V. (hereinafter referred to as: “Jumbo”) has been designated as the controller in respect of the processing of the personal data set out in this privacy statement.
Jumbo is responsible for how your Information is collected, used and stored.

2. What personal data does Jumbo process, for what purposes and on what legal basis?
Contact with Jumbo
If you contact Jumbo’s recruiters with questions about Jumbo’s vacancies or its procedures, we will store your contact information (name and e-mail address) and your question. Jumbo may ask you to provide more information if we feel it is necessary to answer your question.
The Information gathered in this way is used, among other things, to answer the relevant questions.
Automatically generated information
To make the Website work optimally (for example to display pages properly and to secure the Website) Jumbo requires certain information. Jumbo therefore collects automatically generated information about your (browsing) behaviour during your use of the Website. Processing of data for these purposes can be considered as being carried out for the purposes of a legitimate interest of Jumbo.
Applying for a job
You can apply for a particular vacancy via the Website. When you apply, you will be asked to provide certain information. Providing your first name, surname prefix (if any), surname, e-mail address, place of residence and telephone number is mandatory. Optionally, you can provide your date of birth. Finally, Jumbo asks you to upload a cover letter and a CV.
You also have to answer the following questions, if applicable:
- Were you informed about this vacancy by a staff member? If this is the case, we will ask you for the name of the staff member.
- Do you have experience in the retail/hospitality sector?
- Please indicate which parts of the day you are available
- Are you capable of physically demanding work (for the position of delivery driver)?
- Are you available for at least 6 months (for the position of delivery driver)?
- Are you in possession of a valid driving licence (for the position of delivery driver)?
- Are you available for at least 20 hours a week (for Jumbo Belgium)?
The above list is non-exhaustive. You may therefore have to answer other questions on the Website when you apply.
Jumbo uses this information to process and evaluate the application, to answer any questions you may have and/or to contact you.
Jumbo Job Alert
You can sign up to be kept informed of new vacancies at Jumbo. Jumbo will send you the latest vacancies on a daily or weekly basis. If you have signed up for the Jumbo Job Alert, Jumbo will use the e-mail address that you provided to send the Job Alert.
In order to send you job offers that are as targeted as possible, you must fill in the following fields: business units, location, educational levels, work experience, positions, hours per week and provinces.
If you no longer wish to receive Job Alerts, you can use the unsubscribe option that is included in every Job Alert.
Jumbo processes your e-mail address based on its legitimate interest in being be able to send you the Job Alert.
Statistical research
Jumbo strives to provide you with a Website of the highest quality. This requires Jumbo to continuously carry out statistical research so that it can, where necessary, make adjustments to its Website.
Jumbo may use your Information for this statistical research based on its legitimate interest. Only specially designated employees of Jumbo have access to your Information for this purpose. The results of the research are always aggregated. This means that the data in the research result cannot be traced back to you personally.
3. How long does Jumbo keep your personal data?
Your personal data will be stored carefully and not longer than necessary for the purpose for which they are processed, unless Jumbo is obliged by law to keep your data longer.
Jumbo will in principle delete personal data collected in the context of a selection procedure within four (4) weeks of the end of that procedure. It is possible that Jumbo may explicitly request to keep personal data longer, for example to be able to make you an offer at a later date. In this case, Jumbo will not store your personal data for longer than one (1) year.
After the expiry of the retention period, Jumbo will delete your personal data. This is done by anonymising your personal data, so that they can no longer be traced back to you in any way. Jumbo then uses the anonymised data for analytical purposes.
4. To whom does Jumbo provide personal data?
Jumbo will not disclose personal data to third parties (other than processors engaged by Jumbo) without your consent, except:
- to other companies within the Jumbo Food Group for the purposes set out in the Jumbo Privacy Statement. Jumbo provides these data based on its legitimate interest.
- to subcontractors who process personal data on behalf of and for the benefit of Jumbo. In that case, Jumbo will ensure that contractual provisions are in place to ensure that third parties do not use your personal data for purposes other than those described in this privacy statement and that the third parties have security measures in place that are necessary to protect the personal data from unauthorized processing and accidental loss or destruction of or damage to your personal data.
- Jumbo may provide your data to third parties if you have expressly indicated that you agree to this for a particular third party and/or if these data cannot be traced back to you personally.
- Finally, Jumbo may disclose your personal data to third parties if required to do so by law and/or regulations, if required to do so as a result of legal proceedings and/or if Jumbo considers it necessary to protect its own rights.
5. How are your personal data protected?
Jumbo implements suitable technical and organisational measures to secure your personal and other data against loss or any type of unlawful processing.
6. What are your rights?
Under the privacy legislation, you have a number of rights as a data subject. This section of the privacy statement states what rights are involved and how you can invoke them.
Response
We will try to respond to your requests as quickly as possible and in any case within one month. However, we may need more time. If this is the case, we will inform you before the end of the aforementioned month. The additional time will not exceed two months.
Requests can be made via the Service form at www.jumbo.com/contact.
We may refuse a request from you, for example, because your request is unfounded or excessive or because we cannot or do not have to comply with your request (legally). We will also inform you of any rejection. Furthermore, we may ask you to identify yourself before processing your request.
Please note that, in the event that we reject your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

You have the right to know whether we are processing personal data relating to you by submitting a request to this effect. If we are, we will provide you with a copy of the personal data collected about you in accordance with the law.
